IP blocks

Which IP blocks are included in the platform?

The platform combines a range of LDOs and DC-DC converters, so designers can match power management to each SoC’s needs.

LDOs come in three variants: general-purpose (GP), low quiescent current (LQ) and capless (CL). Each is optimized for different parameters, giving the best trade-off for each use case.

DC-DC converters are designed for nano-power operation and low noise. Alongside general-purpose converters, the portfolio includes audio-grade DC-DCs clean enough to supply audio codecs directly. This removes the intermediate LDO, saving die area and cost and improving efficiency.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Dolphin power management IP

These blocks are available across a wide range of process technologies, from mature nodes down to 22 nm, as well as a growing portfolio of FinFET IPs; the exact node and foundry list for a given block is in its datasheet, available on request.

Dolphin licenses per project, with the option of per-unit royalties depending on the block and the volume. A licence covers the deliverable set needed for integration: views, models, documentation and integration support. Terms are set with the field engineering team during the technical evaluation.

This platform connects directly to any battery chemistry (Lithium-ion, Alkaline) or USB, up to 5.5 V input voltage, without a separate front-end for each source.

Yes. Dolphin’s Application Lab supports pre-licence technical evaluation, including characterisation data review and integration feasibility on the target node. Requests go through the support channel below.
